OK, I see the problem. The source to the imageformat plugins is not included in 4.7.4. It is included in 4.7.3. I'll need to go back to 4.7.3 for my static build.

The thread Volker is referint to is discussing the details of the q_assert handling and that it will result in fatal error. I never used Q_ASSERT, but the standard assert and its features in visual studio. The standard version is also resulting in an unconditional stop of execution. Nevertheless, when you started the progam in the debugger it allows you examine at least some of the values accessible around the assert. This is for msvc 2005. If the Q_ASSERT does not allow that, you might want to use the standard assert.

I had my application doing the exact opposite of yours, which was reading AAC audio and process it in some way. I found a 3rd party library, tested it on the Mac, Windows, and Linux and used with Qt. Plus, there are lot of applications out there which need to run on dedicated devices, so I expect libraries compatible with these devices to exist. If the trolls add a codec, it will be one already done by a third party, that will be tested and validated. Don't expect the Qt developers to reinvent the wheel.

bq. But… if you do want the pen to scale, why don’t you just set a width of 1? Since I also export to vector formats like PDF I do need the option of cosmetic pens, so most of the pens indeed need width 0. Setting them to width 1 for the scaled PNG export would cause equally much work and code-clutter as scaling the widths myself. So this would only be my last resort...

This one will be executed in the main thread if thread is not moved to itself.
"You're doing it wrong™":/wiki/Threads_Events_QObjects :-)
I did not say do it, I just mentioned the possible problems :-)
Agreed. But one has those with every signal/slot connection once threads are involved.
