    I was trying to download & build QT5 using git as given in the "link":http://qt-project.org/wiki/Building-Qt-5-from-Git.
    But when i do
    @perl init-repository -http@

    i get following error while downloading. (I was able to download qt3d,qtactiveqt, qlalr folders).

    bq. Cloning into 'qtbase'...
    error: Unable to get pack file http://git.gitorious.org/qt/qtbase.git/objects/pack/pack-bee6014c04f8a98aa6b70f39a08a7dad6a1bc3dd.pack
    transfer closed with 84106651 bytes remaining to read
    error: Unable to find c0d249019b098890fb8e5e9e144c2dd8029a670c under http://git.gitorious.org/qt/qtbase.git
    Cannot obtain needed object c0d249019b098890fb8e5e9e144c2dd8029a670c
    while processing commit 32c54642dd9af1f1bf48c259f55dad6d5339c5e8.
    error: Fetch failed.

    When I try to use wget http://git.gitorious.org/qt/qtbase.git/objects/pack/pack-bee6014c04f8a98aa6b70f39a08a7dad6a1bc3dd.pack , I was able to download it without any issues.

    Any suggestions??

      I don't know if this directly relates to your problem but the download through git, especially when it comes to large packages, is quite unstable sometimes.

      Just give it a few tries (you will have to force initialization then, <code>perl init-repository -http -f</code>); it usually works somewhen.

      You can also try to omit large packages (most of all WebKit using <code>--no-webkit</code>).

        yes I am trying it with -f without any success.

        I am not sure if there some other way, I can download the sources or else I have to wait till they release the beta :(

          hari, you can grab sources and binaries from "beta-snapshots":http://releases.qt-project.org/qt5.0/beta-snapshots/ repo. It's being regularly updated.

              Pleasure. Checking out git can be a bit painful sometimes :)
