Lo resolví así

ln -svf /usr/lib/qt6/plugins /usr/plugins

Problem solved.
The issue was the default seat inside of the compositor was unset. Means the keymap attributes were emtpy. I have set it manually and now it works.

It looks like a warning rather than an error per se.

You might have to configure something on the X server side.

@JKSH Thank you. I had hoped that there was a simpler way I didn't know about, maybe twerk some configure options and it'll enable and build xcb... But if there's not there's not, I'll just cross compile xcb as you and Christ both suggested.

When adding new dependencies you should restart from a clean state. Just a call to configure might not catch the changes you applied to your system.

As for when, always add all the development dependencies before calling configure.

@mnesarco I think it's worth mentioning (on an old thread) that in my case the (erroneously) missing dependencies included XCB GLX and xcb-sm (maybe others). It's important to pay careful attention to the output from ./configure and compare.

you can simply open the qtvirtualkeyboard source project with QtCreator and compile it, using your cross compile kit

Oh I don't remember to be honest. I think I didn't change anything from stock settings. I also didn't specify the OpenGL libs manually anywhere when building Qt or apps.

Because it's a dependency of the plugin not of the application.

@SGaist Alright, i tried a few more things, but there were many issues still when building it myself, i guess i'll have to upgrade my vm to 14_04.
