Unable to sign application on Android: androiddeployqt exited with code 15.

I am facing this mysterious error when trying to compile my application and signing it, however when I build the app without signing it it builds just fine. I am using Qt 5.13, SDK 26.1.1 and NDK r19c.

I realised that I am able to sign the application manually using
apksignerbut I don't get why it doesn't work with Qt Creator. Unfortunately, without being able to sign the app within Qt Creator I cannot publish it on the store as the "Add debug server" option is always enabled if the "Sign package" option is disabled. See below.
