can you give a bit more code? How is the queue defined? Which types are stored? How are they added? This has a big influence on the error...

    bq. I need to execute a Qt GUI application that supports X11 protocol on MS Windows platform. Where is nothing said about development for X11 under MS Windows! Only about execution of X11 app under MS Windows! Exactly what Exceed do in perfection! Express yourself more clearly next time!

    Yes, create your thread object at a larger scope, for example as a member of your class or on the heap, so it won't go out of scope (and thus beeing destroyed) before your thread has finished execution.

    Multiple inheritance is not bad at all, it just requires that you know what you are doing. But this is true for a lot of other stuff in C++ as well ;-)

    The data will not be sent until your code returns to the Qt event loop or explicitly calls waitForBytesWritten(): calls to write() are not blocking and only queue data for later transmission. The flush() call does not immediately send everything queued in Qt: it only queues some amount with the OS (see the docs). The data may, or may not, arrive at the receiver in the same number of chunks as you queued it in. There is no connection between the number of calls you make to write() and the number of TCP packets sent. TCP guarantees that all bytes sent are received in the correct order.

    ... furthermore, for situations where you simply want to display an action under a regular pull-down menu, you would include the following in your Mac-specific code: @myAction->setMenuRole(QAction::NoRole);@ If the role is not explicitly defined, the action will not appear in the menu.
On Fedora, the "default" folder is a symbolic link to "linux-g++" and on openSuse it points to "linux-g++-64". Both lookes fine to me.

I have the folder /usr/share/qt4/mkspecs/linux-g++, just as on your system. It contains the files qmake.conf and qplatformdefs.h. However, the default configuration seems to be read from the linux-g++-64 folder. Can this be a problem?
Yes, clear now, what you want is @ linux-g++* { ... } @

    We in Digia are working with Nuance to get this plug in working well in Qt. We have a demo that is using speech recognition. If you are interested in this, please contact us, and we can see what we can do to help you :) contact me directly, or send an e-mail to qt.info@digia.com

    My start would be probably with the ip address example and simplify. QRegExp is quite powerful, but need to be "fluent" with it. The validator issue becomes tricky for cases like _4'__6" = 4'6" = 4'6" ('' symbolizes a space) For humans it is easy to recognize. For ip address it would be: 127.0.0.1 = 127.__0__0.__1 = 127.0.000.001 and whatever combinations are possible. My gut feeling is that it is manageable with QRegExp, but you need a real solid understanding. It was not worth for me at the end.
  • How to add ScrollBars to QGLWidget window?

    The QScrollArea (see Taamalus' response) is a good solution if you want to scroll a big widget that does not fit into the space you have. But if your QGLWidget does fit the space, and it should draw different contents depending on the value of the scrollbars (which I assume), you need something different. If that is the case I recommend using QAbstractScrollArea. It is an abstract class, so you need to inherit from it and implement some functions. There is a description about what you need to implement and an example at http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/qabstractscrollarea.html#details .

    Emitting a signal in updateMap that is connected to MainWindow::update() should work, even when the signal is emitted from a seperate thread. The slot should then be executed in the receiver's thread.
