Qt Location MapViewer - OpenStreetMap - behind a proxy

Hello there,
I work at a school which is behind a proxy and I am trying to use the Qt Location MapViewer with the OpenStreetMap plugin. It works perfectly at home where I don't have a proxy.
However, at school it does not work even when the proxy has been correctly set on the System Preferences (Mac OSX).
Is there any known way to get it working behind a proxy?
