No university degree required. Preferably you are a self-taught programmer; then we won't have to de-program you :) Work can be done remotely. But US/Canada pacific-coast resident would be a bonus.

    Pay negotiable depending on skills.

We're looking for a freelance, self-taught (preferably) multi-talented coder who knows QT and C++. The system we've built needs more features added, specifically:

    1. Color-grading module using OpenGL and existing code.
    2. Lots of modifications and upgrades to existing QT interface.
    3. Removal of dead-code from previous iterations of the software.
    4. Film-emulation system for cinematographers.

Please message me if you are an experienced QT and C (and/or C++) programmer and have an appetite for changing-the-world.

Ideally you already have some background in digital color-management (OpenColorIO) or feel you can learn it easily. Our entire software package also uses QT.

Freelance/remote work to begin with, then we'll see how things go. University graduates, feel free to apply also, but you'll need to convince us you're not going to cause any trouble. Message me through the IM system on this forum, or respond below.

    Thanks.

There has been an overwhelming number of private-responses to the above job advertisement. Because of the sheer volume of applicants, it has been necessary to implement a more selective criteria:

      • Do NOT apply for this position if you have a profile on Linkedin; Facebook; or any other surveillance platform. We are building SECURE software, we can't employ developers who are under surveillance by our competitors.

      • Do not apply for this position if you hold a university degree. We do not have the time to de-progam you; that is your responsibility. We are looking for SELF-TAUGHT programmers.

      • Please do not apply for this position if you develop for Windows or MacOS. We are a LINUX-based development studio. Our software is SECURE, so it cannot, by definition, be programmed by those who develop for insecure; black-box hardware/software.

We are experiencing a high-volume of job applicants.

We would LOVE to hear from more developers who meet our criteria. Especially developers with experience in color-management engines and lift-gamma-gain color-grading.

C++ and QT skills are vital. Experience in transforms of color-space and OpenColorIO tech is a bonus. Please keep sending in applications. We read all of them, and we are enthusiastic about hiring the right people.

I don’t know, what you call overwhelming. There have been 63 views on your latest post, one of them was me.

It doesn’t sound right, to exclude academic developers for holding a degree and to exclude LinkedIn users.

Well I am self-taught and I also hold a degree (in nuclear physics), so I'm now conflicted ... should I apply or should I skip due to being in need of getting "de-programmed"...?
I guess I should skip, since I also have a LinkedIn account, that surely must be a dealbraker, right? :D

Thank you for your thoughtful response.

            We are developing secure software.
Linkedin, like Facebook is a surveillance platform..
This is absolutely common-knowledge and not in dispute. No companies in this arena are currently employing those who are under active-surveillance by a major competitor.

Those companies that are; are not in the business of secure-development.

Regarding University graduates: We cannot employ university graduates because it takes too long to educate them on the basic realities of software development in a secure environment. Many of them have, for example, "social media" profiles.

Regarding being overwhelmed by applicants: We are receiving many applications via other avenues also.

Thank you again for your help; your kindness; and your interesting questions.

Thank you for your interesting question. You asked whether you should apply for the advertised role as a C++ / QT developer, specializing in OpenColorIO technology, given your current position.

We have considered your type-of application carefully. Unfortunately, the criteria under which it is possible to apply for this role now specifically excludes those who hold a university degree. This is for security reasons.

While we appreciate that you were initially self-taught; we are only selecting candidates who are entirely self-taught.

Thank you again for considering an application for the role, and thank you for your thoughtful question.

We wish you the best of luck elsewhere.

Is the Linux app (which you say exists already) open or closed source?
