Qt Designer/Creator plugin XML access

Hello,
I would like to create a Qt Designer/Creator collection plugin using custom widgets, which can export a custom XML file converted from the original.

I added a TaskMenu extension that, once clicked on the menu action, opens a QFileDialog to choose where to save the exported file, but I don't know where to retrieve the Qt Designer XML content to pass to the converter. Any idea?
