QtWebEngine static compilation on Linux fails with Error: Missing archive files from linking pri

I am receiving the following error when i am trying to compile QtWebEngine on my Manjaro Linux machine.

Project ERROR: Missing archive files from linking pri

Following is the configure summary with the command used.

I am able to compile the Qt library statically without QtWebEngine using the -skip webengine option.

On searching the qtwebengine src directory, i found that the error comes from /home/<USERNAME>/opt/Qt/5.15.1/Src/qtwebengine/src/buildtools/config/linking.pri. It contains the following lines.

isEmpty(NINJA_LFLAGS): error("Missing linker flags from linking pri")
isEmpty(NINJA_ARCHIVES): error("Missing archive files from linking pri")
isEmpty(NINJA_LIBS): error("Missing library files from linking pri")
...

Searching a little bit more i found that in /home/<USERNAME>/opt/Qt/5.15.1/Src/qtwebengine/src/core/release/QtWebEngineCore.pri the NINJA_ARCHIVES variable is empty. I copied the value from /home/<USERNAME>/opt/Qt/5.15.1/Src/qtwebengine/src/core/release/convert_dict.pri and tried to compile but it failed.

I am kind of stuck at this point. Any help to solve or further debug this issue will be highly appreciated.

I'm getting the same error on Ubuntu 20.04:

looks like static build hasn't been fully tested...
