The challenge
The Adobe Globalization team seeks an experienced software engineer to lead the development effort of product internationalization and localization, as well as related tools and libraries. We are looking for someone with a passion for different languages and cultures, has strong technical skills necessary to translate this passion into world-class, world-ready software. If you have experience developing software on desktop/mobile/web for an international audience, are comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment, like to be hands-on and deep dive into code, and can deliver working software on schedule with little supervision, then we want to talk to you.
What you’ll do
Using software world-ready grading criteria and your tech stack expertise to assess a product’s internationalization gaps and to come up with technical implementation recommendations to fill the gaps
Work closely with the development teams to design and develop internationalization and localization infrastructure
Lead and contribute to the design and development of new internationalization and localization technologies, libraries and tools
Resolve internationalization issues and implement internationalization and localization enhancements in products
Add cultural relevant new features directly to products to delight international customers
Promote awareness of internationalization and localization issues both internally and externally
Promote new globalization technologies to product teams and implement them directly into products
What you need to succeed
Technical Skills
Software developer with a passion for technology and strong hand-on programming experience in one or more of these areas:
Desktop application development using C/C++
Desktop application UI development using Qt framework
Web (client/server) development using JavaScript and its popular frameworks such as React, JQuery, Node.js, Backbone.js, and AngularJS. PHP, CSS, HTML5, JSON
Mobile development experience in iOS and Android
A scripting programming language such as Python, Perl, Shell
Knowledge of internationalization and localization, such as Unicode, ICU, CLDR, Locale format data, ISO Standard, Fonts, Text Layout and localization frameworks on different development environments and OSs
Experience with Agile (Scrum) development methodologies
Soft Skills
Self-motivated, self-starter, quick learner, independent, curious
Team player
Good communication skills
Good organizational skills
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field
5+ years of commercial software development experience
Globalization engineering experience is a great plus
