I believe so.

I requested a group called maemo some 24hours ago. I saw it was not created so I assume it was rejected. Can you confirm? -

Sometimes it takes some time to create the group, give them lets say 2 or 3 days.
Windows group also took I think 1 or 2 :-) -

So, if you are missing a group and do not have the rank to create one, you could ask some user that has the required rank to do it for you :-)

I still would imagine that we have room for more specialized groups (maemo, meego, symbian)... You can join as many as you want anyway... -

Now, that's a bit weird. I have rejected some groups and gave an explanation why I did so in the comment field. The system should have sent an email to the member requesting it. fcrochik, no email to you at all?
To explain that special case: I have approved the Mobile Developers group. For now, we want to keep the groups somewhat generic. That avoids fragmentation and loads of special groups with small amounts of members. As we grow, this approach will most likely have to change, but we're not quite there yet.

Update: I talked to Gurudutt and there was a simple misunderstanding. Maybe my specs were not as clear as I thought they were...
Anyway, there will be emails sent out to users requesting any of the features related to groups that tells them what the decision was, if there was any, and the reasons. That should limit the confusion. ;)

Alexandra,
No, I did not get any reply.I understand the idea of not trying to fragment too much. At the same time, maemo is such a "unique" platform that maybe could use its own group. My hope was to help more of the maemo/qt developers to join devnet but I have to say they (we) are very spoiled by our own "exclusive" community/web site maemo.org and won't be "very easy" :)

I just fixed this part so if any request is rejected by system admin, then system will send email to the person who have made the request and in some cases all group owner will also receive email.

You need Robot Herder rank to request a group. Note that not all requests will automatically be accepted. -
