libpruio & Qt

I have a Qt widget application which I'm cross-compiling from Ubuntu on a PC to a Beaglebone. I want to speed up the I/O using something like the libpruio library but after searching all weekend, I can't find any references as to how it might be done.
Can anyone offer any links or guidance on how I might be able to cross compile a C++ app using the libpruio library?
