Background task on IOS with seperate solution

Hi,
I created two solutions for Android, where second is a service.
Now I want to port it to IOS.
How to run a separate solution as a background task on IOS?

I know that there are many restrictions when application is closed but I just want to run it with main application.
How to write main.cpp of "service"?

That service connects to the host and pushs notification to the user e.g. new posts found

Shouldn't that rather be done using push notifications ?
