Personally I like attachments on forums - right near where the problem you're addressing lies. However I don't see them as "essential". From a site admin point of view though you do need to consider a virus check on upload, including of the contents of compressed files/zips

Ah! You have to add @[[Category:Learning]]@ somewhere on the page. Top is probably best. It's going to be better documented soon.
