qt 4.8.7 kit is valid only for console applications !!

I recently reinstalled the windows due to vbinject virus and was surprised that my qt kit does no longer work with qt creator except for qt console projects

Also, I'm curious... why is it labelled "Qt 4.8.7 (qt5)"? Is it Qt 4 or Qt 5?

it's qt 4.8 but the folder name is qt5 , I know it's a bad idea

Where did you get the Qt 4 from? Which compiler was used to build it?
As you can see from the tooltip, MSVC 14.0 is not compatible.
And yes, I would not call it Qt5. At least not, if you want help from others...

@aha_1980 I got it from the source nearly a year ago and was working with it until yesterday when I installed a new windows
the warning always appeared but it doesn't cause any problems , also I'm now able to compile qt console applications very well -

@aha_1980 yes surely I've installed visual studio 2015 , and built qt 4.8 and 5.7 successfully with it , I'm trying to rebuild it now with it

I tried qt 5.7 now and it worked , don't understand what happened to qt 4

during configuring qt 4.8 I got this in the configuration :
QMAKESPEC...................win32-msvc2015 (commandline)is this the cause of the problem ?

did you drop the qt 4 support ?

Hi,
AFAIK, there was no support drop of Qt 4 in Qt Creator.
You can also install Qt 4.8.7 using the online installer. You can then check if there are other troubles with your version of Qt Creator.

I don't know if the Qt Creator engineers decided to drop support or not, but Qt 4 reached End-of-Life in December 2015. That means nobody checks if Qt 4 still works properly in newer products; it's possible that something broke but nobody realized.
You can try installing Qt Creator 4.4 and see if that helps: http://download.qt.io/official_releases/qtcreator/4.4/

If you need to support an old version of Qt, then I recommend you keep using Qt Creator 4.4.

It may be that nobody checks if Creator is still compatible with Qt4, but I can successfully work with Creator 4.7, Qt 4.8.2 and MSVC 2010 SP1, including debugging.
The Qt version was not self compiled, it was an official release.
