Splash screen on Android

Hi,
I tried to create a splash screen for my Android application. I followed this guide. It somehow works but not correctly.
What really happens is that the splash screen defined in Android manifest appears for a short time. Then screen turns complete white for quite a long time a and then the splash screen defined in QML appears for a very short time.
Did I do something wrong? Are there different approaches I could try? I just discovered there is a QtAndroid::hideSplashScreen() function. Is there any guide on using it?
