Qt5 Profile line 5 & 6 errors; No desktop login, just straight to desktop

  • I recently attempted to install Qt 5.9 while my default is 5.5.1. I'm on linux mint 18.2 64 bit. I had some troubles setting the environment for 5.9 (attempting to build RPCS3) but now that i've gotten that working, when I login to my desktop I receive this:

    Error found when loading /etc/profile:

/etc/profile.d/qt5.sh: line 5: pathappend: command not found
/etc/profile.d/qt5.sh: line 6: pathappend: command not found

As a result the session will not be configured correctly,
You should fix this problem as soon as feasible.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of resolving this issue.
I don't care if I have to give up on the RPCS3 build and remove Qt5.9 that's fine,
I just need my desktop working properly.
    Thanks in advance.
