IFW with repository on cloud drive

I am trying to create an online repository.
For distribution I do not want to put the files simply on the webpage. A while I had tried to use an FTP site with user name and password. However, this ended in problems, which I had posted already a while ago.
Today I have tried to use with cloud based drives and sharing a link. The link was added as "user defined repository" in the maintenance tool. I have tried with owncloud, Google drive and Dropbox, but neither of those worked.
Anyone has an idea?
