Linux proxy settings

HI,

Is there any clean way to get GNOME proxy settings from a Qt application?
Do I need to invoke something like 'gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.system.proxy' and then parse the output?
Also is there any way to detect the current desktop(GNOME/KDE...)?
