Remote debugging with telnet instead of ssh

I want to create a device for remote debugging in QtCreator 3.0.1, but I have to use telnet instead of ssh because there is no ssh available for my (special) target. Is there a way to achieve this? I tried Tools -> Options -> Devices -> Add and used both "Generic Linux Device" and "QNX device" (BlackBerry Device does not even ask for a user name), but there is no way to select the protocol to be used for the connection.
