I downloaded Qt 5.1 beta for Mac (OS X) and I have the impression that more stuff is needed to try iOS development (in a simulator) with it. What am I missing (for example: how do I set that a project is not for desktop but for iOS?).

You need to build Qt for iOS yourself. See here:

Thank you for your reply! I had the expectation that everything needed for testing iOS development with Qt using a Mac would be included in 5.1beta1!
