Re: Debugging in Qt creator gives SIGABRT

I see something very similar to this, if I externally make/run my application I get the GUI to pop up on my screen but if I run inside the QTCreator tool, as it tries to open the display it generates a SIGABRT event.

my OS is Ubuntu 23.10 (mantic)

My apologies thought I was replying to an old thread.
So I have built and compiled a GUI application that if I run it in debug mode falls over as it spawns the GUI (at the moment the GUI is just a shell with a few elements but does not access any of the active software written by me yet). The issue is asserted in Function: _ZNK14QMessageLogger5fatalEPKcz (I appreciate this is a linker generated call).

If I use the generated makefile when I run the application externally I see my GUI. The implication to me is I've not got an environment variable set somewhere i.e. the internal setup is different to the external run environment.
