Welcome to commercial Qt setup
-
Hi and welcome to devnet,
Which installer are you using ?
The latest online installer greats you with a "Welcome to the Qt online installer".
In any case, once you are logged, unless you have a commercial license, you will get the Open Source installation options.
-
Do yourself a favor and avoid the official Qt installer. Use aqt: https://github.com/miurahr/aqtinstall

Isn’t there supposed to be an open-source edition?
It's actually bound to the Qt Account. If you have a commercial license, the online installer will assume you want to use Qt Commercial.
A workaround is to use two separate Qt Accounts (though you still have to keep the legal hurdles in mind, because freely mixing commercial and open source Qt is not allowed). Talk to Qt sales and/or a lawyer, if in doubt.
-
I certainly don’t have a commercial license tied to my account, but I get this message and there is no open source option anywhere. I guess I will try the aqtinstall option.
-
@mauricev On the installer GUI, there is an option to go with commercial use or open source if I remember it correctly.
-
@JoeCFD Once I enter my non-commercial credentials and click next, I am presented with this phrase, so it appears to be the case that the installer is misconstruing my license.

Did you ever sign up for a commercial evaluation with that email address?

@mauricev if yes, create another account with a different email address. Try it again. By Qt rules, you are not allowed to use commercial and open source qt at the same time as I know. It is better for you to inform Qt that you will go with open source. But it is nice if you want to pay some fee to Qt as well.
