hello, I am developing an application so whenever there is an update on the server the application will update itself, I have already communicated with the server using (QNetworkAccessManager/QNetworkRequest/QNetworkReply) and I would like to know how I can browse directories and read files, some qt class specific that can do this so I can study more?

    About the software:
this app when started will check the integrity of my files by comparing them with the server files, i am trying to do it this way because i want the app to download only what is needed, if anyone has a better idea and can share it i will be grateful

@Fellipe Read folders and files on the server?
I suggest to implement a REST API which will provide directories/filenames/checksums(for comparision) to the clients.

            Hi and welcome to devnet,

What are you using server side ?
            An FTP equivalent ?
            S3 equivalent ?
            Custom protocol ?

@SGaist hello, my test server is http "http://my-server/updates/", this would be the directory where I would iterate.

@Fellipe HTTP is for requesting files you already know the path to (and the webserver still might present something else as a 'file'). There is no query mechanism. Usually, you only access things that have a link (search engines like Google only know about HTTP paths that are a link on a different web page).

My guess is that you have something running on the server that will give you a file listing as HTML. Then you need to parse the HTML to get to the information. There is nothing built into Qt to get file/directory information from a text/HTML file.
