Future of QtLocation?

Hi there, I was asking in the Desktop forum what solutions to use for displaying a map with animated markers and I was pointed to QLocation. Cool. I have installed Qt 6 because that is the default option in the Qt installer for windows and Qt 5 is a more obscured custom install.
Now I have found out that QtLocation is no longer supported in Qt 6 and may never be? I am starting an app that will have mapping as a central feature. I understand that Qt 5 is supported until 2025 but what then? Will QtLocation be supported? Also, the custom install for Qt 5 is not clear. Selecting all of Qt 5.15 is very large. It is over 10Gb and I need to get it down around 4Gb. What components do I need for basic desktop development with QtLocation? Thank you.

AFAIK, looking at QTBUG-96795, it looks like there's work in progress to get QtLocation back on track.
