Unlock qt in Russia

это ясно, просто те кто заплатил за это, в теории имеют право получить продукт. Им все равно на политические разборки. Иначе говоря это КИДАЛОВО от Qt
I would understand if the commercial version doesn't work even if you have paid for it. This is the way how sanctions work (though I am nor sure if there are any sanctions in place that would Qt require to comply). However, I don't understand how open source is not open... IMHO open source should not be political.

I disagree.
Not selling new licenses is fine.
Blocking the access to paid products and giving money back is also fine.
But not giving money back and not giving access to paid product is fraud in my opinion. -
This happens because the IP is detected to be in a country where we are not allowing downloads.
If you have paid for the license, then if you have not been contacted already then someone should be getting in touch with you very soon about this. Alternatively you can reach out to your contact in Qt Sales or DM me and I will get someone to get in touch.

@AndyS So, QtCompany is endeed sanctioning Russia?
In the sense that there is an IP block on addresses originating from Russia yes.
-
It is democraty and freedom.. as it is... LOL
Do you think the Russian open source community will continue to participate in improving Qt now?
F.e. I have less and less desire to do it now... after all these actions. )))

If the Russian open source community chooses not to participate in improving Qt then that is their choice to make.

Everything is political, and while I feel for the regular person in Russia who was/is just as surprised and appalled by recent events, as I have friends there, the fact of the matter is that their president didn't fall out of the sky - he was elected; and as is usual the (full) price is going to be paid not by the government head but by his/hers people. This isn't at all limited to this particular instance, mind you, it's always the case that the people pay for the mistakes of their leaders.

As far as I know, the QtCompany only restricted access to the precompiled Qt Libraries. You should still be able to access the git repos and compile it yourself. Loss of convenience but no exclusion.
Until Microsoft also restricts IP addresses, who knows when/if that will happen.

It is not the truth, there is no true/free election in russian and belarus we have authoritarian or already totalitarian government, you can try googling about them and see that it is almost impossible for people to change it, we have tried (maybe not enough). At this moment for simple picket we can be arrested for days or years (and such a situation already for several years) and the governments have strong forces to suppress society using propaganda and cudgel.
I am not complaining and I am not asking you to forgive us, we deserved bullying and all the sanctions against us I just want to clarify that we don't have free election and many people around me didn't elect our government, and don't support this war and any others.
P.S. My grandfather is from Ukraine. -

Not: Büyükbabam Ukraynalı.I do not agree with your view. If you were sufficiently united as a people for the same cause, you could put an end to your government and do it. Otherwise, your society is not sufficiently aware of this situation.

While I appreciate that this discussion so far has been civil I do want to remind everyone that the topic is about accessing Qt here. If you want to discuss the specifics around the situation in Ukraine and so on, then this is not the place for doing that.
-
By blocking access to your products to regular citizens, you are helping the Putin's regime to increase a besieged fortress syndrome. Actually, you are doing exactly what ISPs in Russia do. That's why we are prepared for this for the last decade. This is a pointless shitshow. Now, in addition to having a crazy dictator, we have IP blocks outside of Russia. Thank you very much! Glory to Ukraine.

Democracy in Russia is a myth. https://twitter.com/xruiztru/status/1381258281700761601
And yes, he literally did fall out of the sky. He's just a random person assigned by Boris Yeltsin.

I made this account just to comment to this thread. I am a user of the FOSS version of the library.
I would like to remind you that Qt did not block Turkey who in 2019 invaded Syria, is currently occupying northern Cyprus, recently helped with the attack of Armenia, is denying multiple genocides, is often violating the Greek airspace, and is now questioning the sovereignty of the east Aegean islands.
It is also not blocking China which is involved in the Uyghur genocide.
It is also not blocking Israel, which is an apartheid state that has been oppressing and illegally occupying Palestine, has been supplying weapons to Russia (in the current conflict) and to Azerbaijan when it attacked Armenia, and has been illegally displacing population.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boycott,_Divestment_and_Sanctions
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iqrit
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kafr_Bir'imIt is also not blocking USA, which has invaded so many sovereign countries, organized so many movements to remove democratically elected governments and replace them with ones that benefit its interests without care about civilian causalities, engaged in so many instances of warcrimes and torture (not only of enemy combatants but of innocent civilians too, look up "Guantanamo Bay" on wikipedia) that is too many to count.
It is also not blocking Saudi Arabia, responsible for the death of many journalists, responsible for the current attack (with the help of the US) that caused the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, and responsible for the death of many gay and transgender people as homosexuality is illegal and these who are caught receive the capital punishment.
So I will ask, why are the Russian people being signed out?
-
And I will not comment any further, this forum is not the place to discuss this. The Qt Company has made this decision and you should direct your comments to them directly (there is a contact us form, feel free to use it).
But this forum is and will remain for questions about Qt, this is already veering off topic for the original question so I will now lock this thread. There are other places to discuss this situation should you want to do that.

I was asked to provide a response to this. So to make it clear, we are not withholding funds from anyone for any reason, regardless of the current situation going on.
