What's going on with QT with RHEL 8. Please help.
-
Was there an update on QT or Redhat 8.5 that happened recently. I have never had an issue installing QT 5.15.2 and as of last week. It gives the qt.gpa plugin error "Xcb" not found.
Funny enough, I have 8.5 on my PC with QT working, I have installed Redhat and QT multiple times
Anyone else experiencing this, and what are your current fixes.
Installing the missing libxcb.xxx.so fixes it, but messed up other features on Redhat
For example, opening up Firefox takes like 10 seconds because it definitely seems to mess with the display on Redhat.I've installed QT the same exact way the exact same time everytime until last week. What happened?
Have tried 5.12, 6.2, and every version and it's the same error.I am thinking this is maybe a Redhat issue, maybe a update happened, but looking for HELP!!!!!
@SGaist help!!!!! -
Hi,
I can't tell because I am not using that distribution. Note that since you are using RedHat, it usually means that you have a support contract with them.
In any case case, how did you install Qt ?
Did you test your system with the distribution provided version ? -
SGaist, what version are you using???
I just opened up a VM and installed 8.4
In the past I have used 8.3 and 8.4, and I would download the open-source QT and download the qt-unified-x64--4.2.online.run or similar for example.I would then give it permissions, run it, apply credentials, select custom, selected 5.15.2, select the libs I need, and install.
After that, it would always just work. Never have I ever have seen this issue, but I think this may be more Redhat related.

Then I would start by installing the Qt packages from the distribution to test that it's working properly and as next step use the pre-built package.

@SGaist UPDATE ALERT!!!!
So..idk how to explain this, but installing GNURadio installs the missing libs to make it run no issue. I don't what kind of unsolved mysteries is going on, but this was our most recent finding.
It was me and 2 friends all trying different things.

What are the dependencies of GNURadio ?

My guess is that qtbase-gui package triggered the installation of the dependencies you were needing.
