save changes done to items in a treewidget

I have editable items in a treewidget, that I am able to manually edit in my interface.

The problem is once I change the tab containing containing the treewidget, and go back to it, I find that the changes I've made are lost.

Is there any way to memorise the changes?

Changes made from a QTreeWidget should go through to the underlying model and be saved there. They will persist across tab changes, unless you have something wrong in your code.
