    [Hello,

If I create a new Qt-qmake project from QtCreator with the latest tools (Windows 10, Qt 5.15.1, VS 2019 16.7.6, Qt creator 4.13.2), I cannot run a cdb debbuger, except if I go to project properties and I tick the checkbox "clear system environment".
However, in Microsoft environment variable window, I don't see environment variables that would target old version of tools, I don't understand.
Also I don't have any logs, just the error message: "the CDB message terminated unexpectedly" (if someone from Qt staff passes here, please improve this message!!!)

    Could you help me ?

Here are the environment variables known by QtCreator:

      Hi,

Look in the folders of your PATH environment variable to see if you have any Qt dlls in there.

        Thanks SGaist.
I just found what causes the error : this is related to the PYTHONPATH environment variable (which targets a 32 bits version of python).
It seems that it is conflicting with QtCreator CDB wrapper. That's odd, because if I disable "Python dumper" in Tools > Options > Debugger > CDB, it doesn't change anything.
Also, I found that there is a debugger log window: in the debug view, right-click on a title bar > "Global debugger log".

That's the same bug as :

        https://forum.qt.io/topic/69130/unexpected-cdb-exit/27

I opened a ticket in the Qt bug tracker: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTCREATORBUG-24859

Did you manage to fix/workaround the issue then ?

I had to remove this environment variable...
I have a lot of dev tools installed on my computer few years ago. They are all conflicting with QtCreator : had to remove old version of CMake, had to remove old python, had to upgrade visual studio minor version or the VS tools won't start...
There is not error messages in all that cases, it's strange that QtCreator ships its own version of tools but uses the system ones by default

CMake, QMake, Python: lots of things are shipped with QtCreator.
If I install QtCreator on a clean windows, everything will work fine. However, I still don't have CMake working...
If you have a lead it would be great : https://forum.qt.io/topic/120275/cannot-build-with-cmake-qtcreator-and-msvc-2019
