In addition to @SGaist's pdb, I use MS VSCode now for development, or there is PyCharm, which give friendly, visual debugging (under Linux). I only use PyQt5, but I would have thought both of these work with PyQt4.

You do realize that this kind of statement does not give any information about what you are trying to do, what troubles you have etc.
Crystal ball debugging is not an effective way to work.
