      Hi
      What about using
      https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qgraphicsitem.html#type
The build in has its own types and your custom items can provide its own type() so you can
      tell them apart.

        Hi,

Out of curiosity, why are you streaming pointers to a string ?
If you want to keep a list of pointers, why not use a QVector of the correct type to store them ?
