Unsolved qt multimedia example does not play mp3 on mac

using the qt multimedia player example, on mac, trying to play mp3, it does not accept to play mp3. on Mac 10.13 using Qt 5.12.1

"it does not accept to play mp3" - what exactly does this mean?

when i select *.mp3 from the drop down menu, and try to select mp3 file, i can not, mp3 files are unselectable, they are greyed, and if i select mp4, it works, but mp3 does not work, if i play it programatically it does not work

Did you check that they can be played with the system's player ?
