Piqued my interest. I visited http://www.itgroup.ro/WSX/browser.htm?.landingpage=wsx_content/en/libagents/libagents.html#scroll-page LGPL, mature-looking, standard C++ library to allow you to design your program using https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actor_model , i.e. highest-level completely message-driven objects. Can use Qt for GUI/system access. If that floats your boat it might well be interesting for C++ folks.
