Please simplify your code. Just write a small program that displays 1 PNG image and does nothing else.

When that works, replace the PNG image with an SVG image.

It's a Qt 4 project so you have to at least add QT += widgets in the .pro file and you may need to either remove all the modules from the includes or change the one from QtGui to QtWidget where appropriate.

There is a quite simple, if ugly solution:

Copy the code of "fitInView" from Qt sources into your class. Give it a new name (e.g. fitInViewTightly) Strip away the modifiers that cause your headache
