Generally I use Qgis with Open StreetMap and XYZ Tiles. I don't know how Qt Location for exemple manage that.

Sometimes, I want to connect to Custom OSM server or on France on the IGN wms

QtLocation is usually paired with QtPositioning to create complete solutions. Note that I haven't used these modules much.

AFAIK, yes. Qt support grabbing tiles so if the servers you want to use provides them in a standard way, it should be good.
