Qt 5.15 - QtCreator consumes 30% of CPU usage while idle, resulting in fan at full speed all day. Windows 10

What is the explanation for this? We do install a virus protection program, and have tried multiple different ones thinking that was the issue. But it would appear that the reason they are activated at all is because of this very dangerous (yes, anything that is running a Core i7 laptop fan at full speed all day is dangerous) activity raises concerns of malevolent behavior.

No, I'm not saying QtCreator is an infected program, but there MUST be a concrete explanation for this. This is not normal application behavior. And based on searches, it has been reported for many years now. I reported it to the paid support we have months ago and have received no useful information.

Is qt creator idle. Mine 5.15.2 on Ubuntu 18 uses 0.3%CPU and 5.4%MEM in idle state.

@VFCraig Can you expand the "Qt Creator (2)" (there is > at the left side) to see which process exactly consumes the CPU?

The QtCreator(2) that you see expanded simply shows the file that is currently active in the editor window. Active, as in displayed but sitting there doing nothing. And, yes, by any reasonable definition of the word, QtCreator is idle. The application is not running. And the fact that the snapshot is of the Task Manager indicates that at the time of the snapshot, QtCreator was not the top-most application.

I posted this 5 hours ago and the fan is still going full speed on my laptop.

There is only one item when you expand QtCreator in the Task Manager? For instance, mine includes 'clangbackend.exe' when I expand the QtCreator. If there are multiple, which one of the sub-processes shows high load?
