From the announcement of this competition: "As developers of applications using Qt, you already know how great it is to work with - but how about on mobile platforms, such as Symbian and MeeGo? How would you like to take that step you have been wanting to take, but not been able to justify: Take your application from the desktop and bring it into the hand-held world via the Ovi store.
Let this contest be the justification, with the possibility of a new phone or even 10,000 euros waiting at the end."So, what are you waiting for? :D More details can be found at the original news post: http://qt-apps.org/news/?id=340
A clarification: This competition is also open to new applications - you do not have to port an existing application :)
If we port those Qt application which has participated in previous competition held this year, will that also qualify??

I don't think that should be an issue. Which is the contest you are referring to.

Hi guys
Sorry for these questions, but I have no experience on the Ovi Store. I have this "app":http://math-graphica.tk/ it's a calculator. For the early bird competiton it's enought to put it in the Qt Mobile Contest Category in the Qt-prop.org ? I'm having trouble to creat the sys file for symbian, because my app uses QtOpenGL, not yet supported. Do I have to have a Qt certification to put it in the Ovi store ? Thanks -

So probably you cannot submit this app to the ovi store.
Also registering and getting a uid and certificates from ovi is taking too long these days. They are not even responding. Seems people are on vacation.

I received them during the December, I didn't have any problems, I applied on Friday and received the email on Monday.

By Friday, you mean 24th December. Also do you have to send any document.

Okay I got a miscalculation of the timing. I just checked the emails.
I emailed them on 6th of December, on 7th December they sent me an NDA to sign and email back to them, on the same day few hours later I received the certificates, UIDs etc.
-
I have not yet received any emails from them. Seems they are on vacation or may be I have to wait for my turn.

Be patient my friend, your turn will come shortly :)
-
that is really motivating :)

Good competition ,,
But it's equally true that one can not submit the application which is previously submitted to any other web, like www.ovi.com
Developer have to make the new application in order to register there.

But the deadline for the first phase of the competition is 31st December right. It seems the competition is not planned out well or people have gone for holidays. The original post at qt-app also has some queries, but no one has replied to any of those.
May be leinir can help passing the message to concerned people.
-
The Early Bird part of the competition is, basically, geared to reward those for whom this is so amazing that they have decided to focus everything on it... and those who were simply bored over the holidays and hammered something out for the competition while they were off university/school/work/whatever before the new year :)
-
Yes, that is understood. But then the issue was that the ovi team was also enjoying their holidays ad hence they could not revert back on time. Also lot of things were changing - like initially it was told only porting was allowed then it was confirmed new apps too can be submitted. Then it was only open source apps can be submitted - later changed to say that proprietary apps were welcome too. And it was told submitting to ovi was required - but then ovi doesn't support Meego or Qt 4.7 - later it was told meego apps could be submitted.
Some of these announcements came at the last moment. I am not complaining about it, but I have never seen any competition organized by Nokia not taking care of such details in the past.
Btw any information on when the Early Bird winners will be announced.

Well yes, previously submitted applications - as in an application which is taken verbatim from your repository and just recompiled for some mobile target can't be submitted. Or, more specifically, it's a guideline: You can do that, but it shows no effort, and thus would be... More than very unlikely to win ;)
