Silly me, I thought we have competition on porting unit test framework application to mobile devices. Reading title out loud helped.
Tehee, yeah, i know - the contest name was something that i must confess to have come up with... it ended up being left in, because it's sort of... Quirky and silly, and just catchy enough to well, make you actually do what you just did ;)

I don't have a Qt desktop app with me. So probably cant participate in the competition. :(

Aw, that is indeed sad, QtK... i'm sure there will be other competitions for building new applications, though :)

Maybe I can go and make Jambi available for n900, to be eligible to compete in this competition? That’s something that has been pondered over some time so far. Other phones are much harder, since Jambi relies on Java 1.5, and in current form uses quite a bit memory...

It is library and not a desktop application, though :)

I think it need to be an application utility or game. Something that should be accepted by Ovi store.

I have an application on Desktop which it can be ported, but for that particular application I wrote a special mobile version so I don't think this can work and it is a task tracker application which I don't know if it can be acceptable... Maybe it is worth porting, what do you think?

Yes, I think it would be a good idea to port it.

Hey, QtK and others with the same problem: i was just told by the organisers that the competition is, indeed, open to new applications as well! So, fire up your Qt Creator and get that nice mobile app you had in mind for ages built :) i've updated the root post with this information as well, just to be sure ;)

Hmmm - the timing of this contest is perhaps a bit off! My guess is that porting desktop apps to mobile will mostly suffer from poor performance, so replacing the UI elements with QML would be the way to go. But alas QML is perhaps not quite there yet either... . Rinse and repeat a couple of months later?

Yes, agree. As of now Ovi store apps are limited to Qt 4.6.3
From the announcement of this competition: "As developers of applications using Qt, you already know how great it is to work with - but how about on mobile platforms, such as Symbian and MeeGo? How would you like to take that step you have been wanting to take, but not been able to justify: Take your application from the desktop and bring it into the hand-held world via the Ovi store.
Let this contest be the justification, with the possibility of a new phone or even 10,000 euros waiting at the end."

So, what are you waiting for? :D More details can be found at the original news post: http://qt-apps.org/news/?id=340

A clarification: This competition is also open to new applications - you do not have to port an existing application :)
If we port those Qt application which has participated in previous competition held this year, will that also qualify??

I don't think that should be an issue. Which is the contest you are referring to.

                                Hi guys
Sorry for these questions, but I have no experience on the Ovi Store. I have this "app":http://math-graphica.tk/ it's a calculator. For the early bird competiton it's enought to put it in the Qt Mobile Contest Category in the Qt-prop.org ? I'm having trouble to creat the sys file for symbian, because my app uses QtOpenGL, not yet supported. Do I have to have a Qt certification to put it in the Ovi store ? Thanks

Its .sis file not sys. You don't require to be Qt certified person. But as of now ovi store supports only Qt 4.6.3 and not Qt 4.7. So probably you cannot submit this app to the ovi store.

Also registering and getting a uid and certificates from ovi is taking too long these days. They are not even responding. Seems people are on vacation.

Okay I got a miscalculation of the timing. I just checked the emails.

I emailed them on 6th of December, on 7th December they sent me an NDA to sign and email back to them, on the same day few hours later I received the certificates, UIDs etc.
