Solved QtCreator system crash when clicking or dragging specific widgets
-
Hi,
Did you try the latest beta of the next release of Qt Creator ?
-
@SGaist I couldn't find any beta release in the installer, but I found an RC release so I tried that, but the problem remains. This is what I selected in the installer.
-
My bad, the RC is correct. I thought it was still in the beta stage.
You might be able to get more data if you start Qt Creator through a debugger.
-
@SGaist I have barely any experience with debugging, so I’m not sure if I’m doing it right, but the system still crashes when attaching a debugger (WinDbg), so I’m not able to get any information from it.
-
What are your system specifications ?
-
@SGaist I'm running an Intel Core i7-4790K, a GeForce GTX 970, and 16 GBs of RAM. Here's a complete list if needed.
-
Which version of the NVIDIA drivers ?
-
@SGaist My NVIDIA driver version is 466.27.
-
Did you try with a previous version ? There might be an issue there.
-
@SGaist Yep, it seems like the driver was the issue. Every release prior to version 456.71 works as expected. I guess I’ll have to stick to the older versions until it’s fixed? Thank you so much for the help!

You're welcome !
Since you have it working now please mark the thread as solved using the "Topic Tools" button or the three dotted menu beside the answer you deem correct so that other forum users may know a solution has been found :-)

@SGaist Done! :)
