Running an external process from qt

I am trying to run an external process from qt.
I am trying to use

    QWindow *window = QWindow::fromWinId(winid);
    QWidget *widget = QWidget::createWindowContainer(window);

How do I get the winid from the external process?

I am running on linux.

@Jakob-Clausen If you only want to start an external application then use QProcess.
Or do you want to embed the UI from that application in your application?
