Connecting Embedded Linux Devices Password

I wasn't able to find any related information or post on this, so I am asking here.
I am working with QT Creator 4.10.0(Community-Version) and I am trying to connect to a Beagleboard via ssh.
Now I have to create a new Keypair to connect to it, which is working just fine.
But my question is, is it still possible to authenticate via password as in previous versions and as stated in the qt-documentation: "You need either a password or an SSH public and private key pair for authentication."
Has anyone already encountered this problem? -
