QT creator failing to launch

I have just installed a fresh version of both Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and QT Creator 4.8.1 and QT 5.10.0 and I am having the same problems with a failure to launch the IDE from both the search bar and terminal. Nothing is responding when I click launch. I have checked the processes in system monitor and nothing is running either. Does QT Creator no longer work with Ubuntu 14.04 ?

@taylopa Try to start it from terminal with this parameter: -noload QmlProfiler -noload QuickDesigner -noload Welcome
Also: why did you install Ubuntu 14.04 which already nearly 5 years old?

And the answer is the same: not possible. Use a newer Ubuntu (or an older Creator), please
