Implementing user license

I want to implement user licenses in my app. The plan is to make one document free but charge an annual subscription for any more than that.

Is the best way to just use QtPurchasing or to implement some sort of account service on my VPS?

This is an iCloud app that uses iCloud drive and will eventually use the Windows equivalent.
