Error building Qt for Raspberry 3 (cross compile)

Hello together,

I'm trying to set up Qt for cross compiling with a Raspberry Pi 3.
The system I want to build my programs on is a virtual machine running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
I've come across a Tutorial on the Qt website: https://wiki.qt.io/RaspberryPi2EGLFS and made it to step 7. I get error messages when trying to run ./configure (-"...all commands") . The configuration stops, as soon as verifyspec.cpp is called and a error message is pushed: collect 2: fatal error: cannot find 'ld'.

Has somebody done this recently and has any hints oder even a step by step solution?! PLEASE :)

Maybe a silly question but do you have the development tools of your distribution installed on your host system ?

I've just checked for the development tools and everything is installed as it should. Any other ideas?

Did you install the build-essentials package ?

Yes I checked this and it was already installed.

Can you compile a standard hello world application ?

Can you post the output of the configure part around the failure point ?

check your libs link in rpi3 sysroot. maybe it is broken.

Thank you for your support so far. I decided to start the coding direktly on the Raspberry. Not the fastest thing but works for me.
I've saved the image from my Raspberry and I'll try again, when I have time. I'll let you know.
