Unsolved Did everything install that was supposed to?
-
Hi,
I'm worry if this has been asked before but there's such a huge amount of informations to sort through and I wasn't finding an answer.
About a week ago I downloaded the online installer and installed QT on Ubuntu 14.03. The resulting installation comprised 4 individual programs (QT Creator, QT Maintenance Tool, Linguist, and one other one I don't recall the name). Now, a few days later I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 (wiping out my previous install of QT in the process) - I downloaded and installed QT again tonight (on the newer 16.04 version of Ubuntu). This resulting installation contains only QT Creator and QT Maintenance Tool - Why?
The problem I'm having here is that it seems prohibitively difficult to find out what one 'can' get (free) and how to actually get it and then get it installed properly. QT puts you through some weird questionnaire when you go to download their product - I've never seen anything like it in my life - if you don't answer the questions right you get nothing, even if you do answer them rightly it's a grab bag (no telling whether you'll get the complete meal deal or not).*
I'm totally new to all this (some limited exper in c/c++) but zero experience with QT. If there is a way to obtain the entire suite again (the way I seem to have had it before) can someone please clue me in on how to get it back?
Thanks in advance for any help.
- I understand open source and open source licensing well enough - just bewildered by QT's use of it I guess.

May be you only chose to download/install QtCreator ?
If you are looking for an opensource version. Follow this link:

@WerdFriek Did you use the online installer? It is actually simple to use. And after installation you can use the maintenance tool to update your installation or to add/remove components. Start it and check what was installed and add missing stuff if needed.
The questions you need to answer before downloading the installer are asked to find out whether you need a commercial license or whether the open source license is suitable for you. Nothing special actually. -

Why? Qt is available as open source or under commercial license. This is not uncommon.
