Building art in illustrator verses in QT
-
We are trying to better understand what is the best way to create art. We have been dealing with art flexibility and reuse. We have created art in illustrator but it’s still a pain to get it into development environment and process. We are considering to redo the art in programming language like QT or iPhone or android.
Like for instance if I create a button in illustrator with a 2 pixel corner radius and save it out for use in a QT developed application I am now forced to resend new graphics every time I want to update that button. But if design the button in QT then all I have to do is change the corner specs in the code. thanks for any insight. Tony

Hi and welcome to devnet,
I'm not sure I am following you right, but it seems that you might be looking for Qt's QtQuick2
Hope it helps

Hi,
By "art", do you mean sprites/icons, or simple polygons? Qt Quick has good support for polygon manipulation, but you'll need to create sprites/icons externally. However, once you have created your PNG/SVG/etc. file, you can easily apply graphical effects, animations, and affine transformations.
For polygon manipulation and reusability, see the bottom of http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5.1/qtdoc/qmlfirststeps.html
For graphical effects, see http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5.1/qtgraphicaleffects/graphicaleffects.html
See also "Visual Types" at http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5.1/qtquick/qtquick-qmltypereference.html#visual-types

Hi,
are you thinking of "Exporting Designs from Graphics Software":http://doc-snapshot.qt-project.org/qtcreator-2.8/quick-export-to-qml.html ?
bq. You can open the QML file in Qt Creator for editing. If you edit the file in Adobe Photoshop and export it to the same directory again, any changes you made in Qt Creator are overwritten. However, you can re-export graphical assets without recreating the QML code.
