Although I don't think I've changed anything on the computer, all QT apps (including examples, QT creator, and my apps) started behaving very weirdly:

    • I can't drop anything, even in the "Drag&Drop/Drop Site" example
    • widgets, including menus, would sometimes stop lighting up when I move mouse over them
    • overall, widgets seem to lose focus until I either click on them or minimize&show the window again

I have tried a few different versions of QT that I have installed (5.6.1, 5.4). All other (non-QT) apps work just fine. All I can think of that could have broken it is maybe a windows update?
    Please help!

After 2 days of struggle when nothing helped, it randomly fixed itself. I wish I had a better answer than that.

        Hi and welcome to devnet,

What version of Windows are you running ?

As you stated in your original post, it might be a windows update or possibly a driver update. Got any of them applied in between ?
