QLineEdit with QDirModel completer does not set isModified flag

I created QLineEdit to enter directory path with auto-complete feature:

@edit = new QLineEdit;
completer = new QCompleter;
completer->setModel( new QDirModel(completer) );
edit->setCompleter( completer );@

I notice that edit->isModisfied() is false after I start typing a path, and then selected a directory from the drop-down list.
Can I catch some event or signal when the user selected a folder to set modified flag myself?
