QT5 and embedded ARM platform
-
Hi,
what is the best commercial (not pandaboard) arm board (IMX.6 ?) to start an embedded dev (small quantities) with Qt5 and full OpenGL/hardware video decoding support ?
-
The Pi should be a good option, the device is a little underpowered, but that's what you get for 35$, plus there is some efforts dedicated to supporting Qt, while on other arm boards you are, at least for now, pretty much on your own.
-
Qt5 works well on Beagleboard/bone - You can do minimal video decode on this, but as far as graphics is concerned, Qt5 is well supported. (http://tigraphics.blogspot.com)

Olimex's A13 sounds interesting to me. It's a 1 GHz rival for the Rasp. Pi using ARM 8 Architecture available for only 35 euro for the micro or 45 for the normal sized on. It can even support wifi for 10 euro's extra (or 7.95 at the cost of a usb port). But I think that wifi is only interesting if you use it with android

<this depends on which interface do you like to use.
Rasp Pi has only a HDMI interface.I would suggest "cubieboard":http://cubieboard.org/
It has an SATA interface and 1GB RAM.
Also the GraphicAccelerator is accessable. -
What about an Android Tv Box. It just cost around 40dls and has:
Hard Drive Capacity: 8 GB
Audio/Video Outputs: DisplayPort, HDMI
Features: Pause Live TV
Data Interfaces: Common Interface Slot, Ethernet Port, Memory Card Slot, USB Port, Wi-Fi
Brand: Unbranded/Generic"Ebay Android TV Box":http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cable-TV-Boxes-/39804/i.html?_ipg=200&LH_BIN=1&_sop=15&_from=R40&_nkw=android+tv+box

I am just about to tryout my GK802 with Ubuntu 12.04. It has the (awesome) i.mx6 core which for one is really well documented.

The Beagleboard is well supported by Qt5. But do not whoe the status of multimedia.
Raspiberry pi is good to start Qt5 and multimedia. All source code is ready. The problem is it dpends on some specific linux distributions -
@tonypupp
I working at the moment with the Beagleboard and Qt5.0.2 the multimedia is working fine. Pulseadio, powerVR and video as well. -
@Juergen_M
Which Window Manager do you use with Qt5.0.2? Do u ever try media hub on the board? -
We dont need a window manager. We have a single application.
Unfortunately no.We created a showcase on the beagleboard with touchscreen, camera and videoplayer.
