        Your question may be a bit too open. You should give some details what you are trying to achieve? What kind of OS?

            You still haven't told us what you want to do. Why would you like to compile Qt? Is it because you want to experiment with cross-compilation? Or because you want to create programs on an ARM device? Or a different reason? If you provide these details, we can understand what you want, and then we can give you better help.

            Also, which Linux are you using? Angstrom Linux (http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/ ) is popular on ARM devices, and already has pre-compiled Qt

                Download Qt packages from your Linux repository. You may not need to compile Qt.

                    In simple words , you can see the repositories as the common place to download the apps and libs.
